Camellias flowering now in the garden.
The Lady of the Camellias (French: La Dame aux camélias) is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils, first published in 1848, that was subsequently adapted for the stage. The Lady of the Camellias premiered at the Theatre de Vaudeville in Paris, France on February 2, 1852. An instant success, Giuseppe Verdi immediately set about to put the story to music. His work became the 1853 opera La Traviata with the female protagonist "Marguerite Gautier" renamed "Violetta Valéry".
In the English-speaking world, The Lady of the Camellias became known as Camille and sixteen versions have been performed at Broadway theatres alone. The "lady of the camellias" is Marguerite Gautier, who is based on Marie Duplessis, the real life lover of author Dumas, fils.

A beautiful white camelia.I love the way you give us so much information on your posts. I have just been catching up with all your blogs, they are so interesting. I've been out of action for a while as I had an operation last Tuesday but starting to feel a little better now. When we were in Townsville we walked past the aquarium but unfortunately didn't have time to visit as we were on the way to Magnetic Island.
My camelias are just starting to open their buds.
So nice and beautiful. My flowers are here: http://www.einontytar.vuodatus.net
Love Camellias, ours are long past the blooming season.
Lovely and delicate white camelia! Love the waterdrops....looks so fresh!I always think about Gretha Garbo when I see the Camelia! Didn't she have one of those in her hair, in one of her films?
It's such a beauty!

Camelias are perfect flowers. Beautiful pictures. =) Hope you have a wonderful week.
I'm back! I do not knit so I am not sure how much time is spent for a project. I have learned to crochet and I think knitting is harder than crochet. These yarns sure make a warm blankie.
Beautiful camellias.
Your Camelia is spectacular. I love it. Thank you!
