Today's Flowers;

Peruvian Morning Glory. I have searched far and wide but could not find this plant's Latin name. It grows into a weeping shrub, freely flowering most of the year. It is not invasive at all. Responds well to the occasional haircut!

Hello,
I know the plant Morning Glory by the latin name Ipomoea nil.
But here is more..
-Cheers Gisela.

Morning glory is a common name for over 1,000 species
The Convolvulaceae, the bindweed or morning glory family, is a group of about 60 genera and more than 1,650 species.

The genus Ipomoea, with over 500 species, is the largest genus in the family Convolvulaceae....
Merremia
Rivea corymbosa, is a species of morning glory plants, native throughout Latin America from Mexico in the North to Peru.

I love morning glories and always forget to plant them. It takes so long for them to grow around here.
These are beautiful

Thank you Gisela for letting me know about all the Morning Glory species. I think they are fantastic, have to get some seed to plant big containers.

Thank you Lilli for your visit.

Your plant should be more well-known, if it flowers so freely, and has no bad habits!If it is a shrub, then it is not the usual morning glory, which is an annual, but it could well be related. The flowers are similar!

I have the same plant and I just looked the name up in my gardening encyclopaedia and I am sure it is a 'Solanum rantonnettii'. The morning glory is usually a bigger flower and very invasive.There are a few different colours you can get - I used to have a blue but that died and the one surviving is purple. Hope this helps you.
