Today's Flowers; picked this morning;

I have this Hibiscus since twenty years in my garden. Unfortunately it must compete with two massive Palms and a Lukasi Cypress. Before summer I had cut it back and it has not been as floriferous as usual. So it seems it is making a comeback into autumn. It is a very beautiful, subtle colour, a tiny red eye and flouncy petals. The emerging flower of the Fishtail Palm; Caryota.

Caryota is a genus of palm trees. They are often known as fishtail palms because of the shape of their leaves. There are about 13 species native to Asia and the South Pacific. One of the more widely known species is Caryota urens, which yields sap used to make an unrefined sugar called jaggery, and also to make palm wine.

Autumn brings the seasonal Chrysanthemums. These are hardy and reappear like clockwork as soon as the temperatures drop. I love these simple, pretty flowers.

Please do not click the picture you do not want to see the many weeds!

What a lovely trio of photographs. The Hibiscus is one of the prettiest colors, so delicate. Your Fishtail Palm is amazing and your Chrysanthemums are very pretty also. Thank you very much for sharing them in Today's Flowers. I always enjoy your posts, and I always learn something new.

I can hardly wait for my own Hibiscus to bloom. They aren't nearly as gorgeous as yours!
The palm reminds me of a ponytail. :)
Chrysanthemums are a fall favorite of mine. I had to laugh at your "don't enlarge" comment.

My post is here: Carletta’s Captures.

Here, where I am now, at my son's house, there are palm trees. I'll compare with yours to see if they are the same kind.
I like hibiscus very much.

Thanks for your comment.

Have a nice week.

Lovely trio! But the eyecatcher is the Fishtale...something! That is stunning! I have seen a lot of flowers I've never seen before, by participating Today's Flower - but that is the most special! I'm speachless......

Titania, the Hibiscus has the most beautifu petals I have seen on any of its family or friends, and the colour is so delicate!
The palm flower looks like fly switch from the early part of the 20th century in the Middle East.
Great post.

The purple hibiscus flower is so beautiful. I grew up in Borneo when later it became Malaysia. Hibiscus is the national flower there. It is simple red type. Here, we have so many different colours and bigger ones.

The one in my garden is pink. I have blogged it.

Guess what, you inspire me with ideas. last week, I went to our local fruit and veg shop, and at the check out, was this bottle of hibicus drink. I asked the woman at the check up if it was any good. She replied, people buy them.

I bought one, not to drink but to blog. and later let Sam have the bottle as his drink bottle. he doesn't like plastic. This one is glass.

Cheers,

Ann

I love that hibiscus! Thank you so much for suggesting that I enlarge it, as that brought out the veins in the petals, and the curled small petals so much better than the small version!
And palm trees have flowers! I never knew that! Could you take a close-up of it, too, so I can see what the parts of the flower look like? It is just so far beyond anything I have ever seen before!!

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog! It made my day! You are so sweet to say the things you did. I'm not sure what type of blossoms those are but sadly they're not pear. Also, the windows are going to be a post for a new meme starting later today called Window Views (http://windowviews2.blogspot.com/). I posted early. You might enjoy that one. Thanks again!

I feel a bit stupid now I found out my flower post really was of pear blossoms. You were right. I'm glad I know what they are now. When you said pear, I was thinking about the fruit falling off and was sure that wasn't it. Silly me:)

These e are just gorgeous flowers and pictures of them. That palm flower was amazing. I saw a hibiscus just like yours in a garden center a couple of days ago but here we can only keep them as potplan´ts indoors. Chrysantemums are here both spring and autumn blooms but only as pot plants. Still they can be kept outdoors in those times.
Living in that warm climate gives so many more possibilities.
